🔔 Bitcoin spot ETF total assets fall below $100 billion, with a cumulative net inflow of 689,180 BTC since listing According to Mars Finance, on February 9th, the total assets of US Bitcoin spot ETFs fell below $100 billion, currently standing at $99.16 billion, a decrease of approximately 40% from the peak of $165.15 billion in October last year. Since the official listing of Bitcoin spot ETFs in January 2024, there has been a cumulative net inflow of 689,180 BTC, worth $55.01 billion. In terms of holdings, BlackRock IBIT holds 765,200 BTC, ranking first, followed by Fidelity FBTC with 198,400 BTC and Grayscale GBTC with 159,600 BTC.

He first clarified that the claim that "Nasdaq has removed the position limit for IBIT options, thus giving Wall Street unlimited leverage" is untrue. BlackRock's IBIT and BITB have always adhered to the standard position limit of 250,000 units. SEC filings only raised the position limit for spot ETFs such as FBTC and ARKB to 250,000 units, aligning it with the IBIT and BITB position limits to ensure fair market competition. Last November, BlackRock IBIT submitted an application to increase the limit from $250,000 to $1 million, but this was not approved. Regarding the reasons for the market crash, Jeff Park stated that it was more likely triggered by risk mitigation within the traditional financial system and derivatives mechanisms, rather than changes in the fundamentals of the crypto industry itself or a single "black swan" event. On that day, Bitcoin ETFs, especially IBIT, saw record trading volumes and options activity, with options trading clearly dominated by bearish positions. Bitcoin had fallen more than 13% in two days, and the market had initially expected a large-scale outflow of ETF funds. However, the actual data showed a net inflow. This indicates that the selling pressure mainly came from "paper money" and non-directional trading related to hedging and market making, rather than a withdrawal of long-term funds. Changes in ETF net inflows in the coming days will be an important indicator for judging whether there is new long-term demand.

There are some widely circulated misinformation stories I want to quickly clarify— A rumor has surfaced claiming that Nasdaq has removed the option position limit for IBIT, allowing Wall Street to leverage unlimited amounts, and that the timing of this change is suspicious, as it occurred in January, just before these options trading activities. This is false. "Removing standard restrictions on crypto assets" is not the same as "completely removing restrictions"—it merely corrects the damage caused by previous non-standard restrictions imposed on cryptocurrencies by management. The link spreading this rumor is: If you look closely at the documents, you'll find that the order calls for removing the $25,000 position limit for FBTC, ARKB, HODL, and the Ethereum ETF. I've included a screenshot of the relevant section below. IBIT isn't listed because those following this know that IBIT (and BITB!) has a standard position limit of 250,000 shares, the cap set by Sections 13/15 of Option 9—a point I've mentioned in previous tweets. The significance of this document lies in simplifying the holding limits for all other Bitcoin ETF issuers, making them essentially the same—essentially creating a level playing field! As stated in the document: "The proposed rule change complies with the requirement that…exchange rules must not be designed to unfairly discriminate against clients, issuers, brokers, or dealers." Furthermore, and more importantly, last November, IBIT submitted a document requesting an increase in the limit from 250,000 shares to 1 million shares! You can see it here: This application has not yet been approved, but it's worth watching. One more thing—I saw X Citizens asking LLM's representatives about the veracity of certain matters, especially seeing Grok make some inaccurate statements. As I've said before, and will continue to advocate, demonstrating a highly independent lifestyle and insisting on "do your own research" (DYOR) is a commendable quality worth cultivating. If anything seems a little suspicious…it's best to verify it yourself (including what I've mentioned!). For example, you can check the OCC database: IBIT still has a $250,000 limit.
