Coinbase Releases Earnings Report. Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN) released its Q4 2025 earnings report after the US stock market closed on February 12, 2026. The report showed that both revenue and profit significantly missed expectations, a stark contrast to recent profit momentum. Key Q4 2025 figures (ending December 31, 2025): GAAP net loss: $667 million (or $666.7 million), the first net loss since Q3 2023, compared to a profit of $1.3 billion in Q4 2024. GAAP earnings per share: -$2.49, below analysts' expectations of $0.55 to $0.96 (data source slightly different; however, the general consensus is that the underperformance was unexpected). Adjusted (non-GAAP) earnings per share: $0.66, below the market consensus of $0.86 to $0.96. Total revenue: $1.78 billion – a 21.6% decrease year-over-year (from $2.27 billion in the same period last year), below the previous expectation of approximately $1.83 billion. It also decreased by 5% sequentially. Transaction revenue (core transaction fees): $983 million, a 36% decrease year-over-year and a 6% decrease sequentially. Subscription and service revenue (stablecoins, custody, etc.): $727 million, relatively stable, but still a 3% decrease sequentially. What caused the GAAP loss? The $667 million net loss was primarily due to non-cash accounting factors: an unrealized loss of $718 million from Coinbase's own cryptocurrency portfolio (this loss was revised downwards due to the significant decline in Bitcoin and other tokens in the fourth quarter). Additional losses from strategic investments (e.g., the holding in Circle, whose price fell by approximately 40% sequentially).

Trump correctly points out that our country was at its wealthiest in the 1880s and 1890s, but he is wrong to attribute that wealth to tariffs. With the efficiency of prototype building magnified ten thousand times, I devoted almost all my time to highly nuanced, even philosophical, design questions: searching for references in my memory (requiring extensive reading and game experience); considering the code branching structures of different game types (narrative vs. deck building); why numerical values are always a core element that cannot be completely discarded (how to design numerical values concisely); which details truly move people; why sometimes a single sentence must be broken down into three, etc. The truly frightening thing is that 90% of game developers don't actually know what a good game experience is. Among the many independent developers and enthusiasts I've met, quite a few don't even know how "fun" is designed. They don't know what "fun" means in code or copywriting. Small games like mountain climbing simulators and office worker simulators can be produced quickly and cheaply, so many people rush into them. The problem is that 99% of people have an extremely limited understanding of the fundamental nature of games. This gap is difficult to bridge even through repeated interactions with AI.
