The XRP community can now create escrow accounts for issued tokens; XLS-85 is officially live, and validators have confirmed it. 🧵🧵🧵
The XRP Ledger has activated the token custody amendment XLS-85, allowing users to create escrow accounts for issued tokens.
Notably, these tokens include Trust Line tokens and Multipurpose Tokens (MPTs). This feature officially launched on February 12th, two weeks after the amendment received validator approval on January 30th, 2026, with 30 XRP Ledger validators voting in favor, reaching the required activation threshold.
The amendment initially received approval from 29 validators in mid-September 2025, but progress was slow due to compatibility issues with the MPT standard, which reduced support to 16.
It's worth noting that the XLS-85 amendment first met the approval threshold in mid-September 2025, when it had 29 validators supporting it. However, a few days later, support dropped to 16 votes due to concerns within the validator community.
XRPL dUNL validator Vet withdrew his vote after discovering that the token custody amendment was incompatible with the newly introduced Multipurpose Token (MPT) standard. This issue affected MPT's custody accounting, particularly in terms of transaction fees and supply tracking.
The community developed a fix, subsequently released as fixTokenEscrowV1. This update corrected the MPT custody accounting issue and became part of rippled v3.0.0 and related releases.
With the network integrating the fix, validators regained confidence in the amendment. As a result, support climbed again, and on January 29, 2026, XLS-85 once again broke the activation threshold. Two weeks later, the network officially launched.
After activation, Vet confirmed that token custody was now operational on the XRP ledger and encouraged community members to see who could be the first user to custody issued assets.
With the activation of XLS-85, custody functionality has now been extended from XRP to fungible tokens, including Trust Line tokens and multipurpose tokens. Users can now lock these assets directly on the XRP ledger under specific conditions. Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD is one such Trust Line token.
However, issuers must enable specific flags before their tokens can be placed in custody. For Trust Line tokens, the issuing account must activate the "Allow Trust Line Locking" flag. For multipurpose tokens, issuers must enable both the "Custodable" and "Transferable" flags when creating the token.
Furthermore, issuers cannot place their own issued tokens into custody, but they can receive custodial tokens. When an issuer receives these assets, the ledger processes the transaction as if it were a direct payment.
Additionally, for tokens requiring authorization, the issuer must pre-authorize the sender before the sender creates custody. Additionally, the issuer must authorize the receiver for custody to complete.
According to the official XRPL developers, the XRP ledger supports three custody types: time-based custody, conditional custody, and combined custody.
It's important to note that time-based escrow locks funds until a set FinishAfter time has elapsed. Once that time arrives, anyone can complete the escrow. If the escrow includes a CancelAfter time and no one completes the transaction before this deadline, the escrow expires and anyone can cancel it. If there is no CancelAfter field, the escrow never expires, and no one can cancel it.
Meanwhile, conditional escrow relies on cryptographic conditions rather than time delays. It is conditionally ready immediately upon creation. Anyone can complete the escrow only if they provide the correct fulfillment information. However, this type of escrow must include a CancelAfter field. If the transaction is not fulfilled by the deadline, the escrow expires.
Interestingly, combined escrow combines these two methods. Escrow funds remain locked until the FinishAfter time has elapsed. After that, correct cryptographic verification is required to release the funds. This can happen if the time for canceling verification is exceeded before verification is completed.

Binance Completes Integration of #RLUSD onto XRP Ledger; Ripple Executives React Enthusiastically: "Let's Go!" 🧵🧵🧵
Binance has officially completed the integration of Ripple USD (RLUSD) onto the XRP Ledger (XRPL), marking another milestone in Ripple's expanding stablecoin strategy.
According to the announcement on February 12, RLUSD is now available for deposits on the XRP network. Withdrawals will be enabled once sufficient liquidity is available on the platform.
This update confirms that RLUSD is now available on Binance's XRPL infrastructure, further strengthening the connection between Ripple's regulated stablecoin and the XRP ecosystem.
Reece Merrick, Managing Director of Ripple Middle East and Africa, warmly welcomed this development. He posted "Let's Go!" on the X platform to celebrate Binance's completion of the RLUSD integration onto the XRP Ledger network.
The expansion of RLUSD across major exchanges and networks has been met with enthusiastic response within Ripple, reflecting the company's overall excitement.
Meanwhile, prominent XRP community analyst EGRAG described the update as "significant." This comment suggests that market participants see a deeper impact beyond the launch of deposit functionality.
This latest move builds on Binance's earlier listing of RLUSD. When Binance first announced support for the stablecoin in January, initial integration was limited to Ethereum. Supported trading pairs included RLUSD/U, RLUSD/USDT, and XRP/RLUSD.
At the time, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse subtly emphasized XRP's importance in a celebratory post. He described the launch as "extremely positive," deliberately capitalizing the first letters of X, R, and P—a stylistic hint widely interpreted as a reaffirmation of XRP's central role in Ripple's strategy.
However, the community also expressed concern that RLUSD's expansion might overshadow XRP. However, Ripple management has repeatedly emphasized that XRP remains the cornerstone of the company's long-term vision.
Currently, Binance has completed the integration of RLUSD onto the XRP ledger. The ecosystem impact could be significant. The listing of RLUSD on Binance's XRPL platform, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, could bring the following benefits:
Increased on-chain activity on the XRP ledger
Enhanced liquidity of the XRP/RLUSD trading pair
Expanded use of RLUSD in cross-border and institutional fund flows
It's worth noting that RLUSD is an enterprise-grade stablecoin focused on compliance. Its inclusion in Binance's deep liquidity pools indicates that institutional trust in the Ripple ecosystem is steadily increasing.
For XRP holders, the significance of this update may extend far beyond the technical aspects. As EGRAG stated,

Robinhood Confirms Ripple Tokenized Millions of Dollars of Assets on XRP, Bringing Network RWA to $2.18 Billion, Featured by WrathofKahneman. 🧵🧵🧵
Leading trading platform Robinhood recently confirmed that Ripple has tokenized millions of dollars of assets on the XRP ledger.
Robinhood Markets outlined its stance on real-world asset tokenization in a seven-page memo dated January 2025 and filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on February 11, 2025. In the document, the company explained the advantages of tokenization and the regulatory hurdles it faces in the United States.
The trading platform also confirmed that Ripple has tokenized hundreds of millions of dollars worth of assets on the XRP ledger. Notably, data shows that the XRP ledger currently holds $1.8 billion in tokenized RWA (excluding stablecoins), and the total reaches $2.18 billion if stablecoins are included.
In this document highlighted by WrathofKahneman (WOK), Robinhood defines tokenization as the process of placing digital versions of real-world assets on a blockchain. The memo lists various tokenizable asset classes, including stablecoins, tokenized securities, tokenized real estate, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Robinhood then emphasizes Ripple as a major player in the real-world asset tokenization space. The memo notes that Ripple has tokenized hundreds of millions of dollars worth of real-world assets on the XRP ledger. This is thanks to partnerships with prominent institutions such as Ctrl Alt, Ondo Finance, and Securitize.
Robinhood also mentions Ripple's collaborations with BlackRock and Goldman Sachs. For reference, BlackRock launched the BUIDL fund in March 2024, aiming to tokenize U.S. Treasury bonds. Goldman Sachs has also launched several tokenization initiatives, focusing on real estate and money market funds.
Robinhood also cited a McKinsey study that estimates the tokenized fund market could reach approximately $2 trillion by 2030, not including cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. This prediction confirms the significant attention major financial institutions are paying to this market.
Meanwhile, the latest data from RWA.xyz shows that XRPL currently holds $1.8 billion worth of tokenized real-world assets (excluding stablecoins). This total makes XRPL the sixth most valuable blockchain on RWA. It should be noted that this data includes both distributed assets on the network and represented assets.
In the past 30 days, XRPL's real-world asset value has increased by 159%, the largest increase among mainstream blockchains during the same period. Solana follows closely with a 46% increase, while Ethereum's increase is 15.49%. It's worth noting that just three weeks ago, The Crypto Basic reported that XRPL's asset value had surpassed $1 billion.
If stablecoins are included, the total value of real-world assets on XRPL would reach $2.18 billion. JMWH commodities on the Justoken platform account for the largest share.
Commodities account for $1.1 billion of the total, private credit contributes $322.7 million, and US Treasury bonds contribute $180.6 million. Stablecoins account for $424 million, with RLUSD alone accounting for $348 million.
In the memo, Robinhood listed several advantages of tokenization. The company believes that blockchain networks can improve liquidity by simplifying transactions of assets such as real estate. Smart contracts can reduce intermediaries and lower costs. Meanwhile, blockchain records can enhance transparency.
Tokenization also allows for partial ownership, enabling retail investors to access high-value assets. Furthermore, blockchain systems support global access and 24/7 trading. Robinhood also believes that tokenization can expand financial access for populations that previously lacked investment opportunities.
At the same time, Robinhood points out that US regulations hinder innovation. The company points out that current securities laws require most tokenized real-world assets to adhere to traditional compliance frameworks. This limits retail investor participation. The report also notes that regulators have yet to establish a clear framework for the issuance and trading of blockchain-native assets outside of existing securities categories.
However, other regions are progressing more rapidly. For example, the European Union introduced the Crypto Asset Markets Regulation (MiCA), aimed at establishing uniform rules for member states. Hong Kong, Singapore, and other locations have also taken similar measures.

#XRPL developer Bird says he will take 100% profit on his XRP at $10 and $27. 🧵🧵🧵
An XRPL developer has sparked a discussion about taking profits at prices significantly higher than the current level, evoking mixed reactions from XRP holders who tend to hold on for more than a year.
XRPL developer Bird shared on the X forum that many people have asked him why he is considering selling XRP at $27.
Bird stated that taking profits was a well-thought-out and necessary decision. He said he plans to gradually sell XRP at $10, $27, and higher, emphasizing that cryptocurrency has occupied a large part of his life over the past five years.
He explained that converting some of his XRP into cash and RLUSD is to return to the real world—buying a house, caring for his family, and developing a career outside of cryptocurrency—while still retaining his XRP position.
Bird stressed that one of his biggest regrets over the years has been not taking profits sooner. In his view, locking in profits is not betrayal, but discipline. The goal is to improve real life, not just watch numbers rise on a screen. Meanwhile, as of today, XRP is trading around $1.43, making the $27 selling target seem unattainable for many holders.
Some community members question why a selling target is being discussed now, given that XRP's price hasn't yet returned to levels like $4 or $10. However, others believe Bird's comments serve as a helpful reminder about risk management.
Community member Arthur supports taking profits, although he remains very bullish on XRP.
He stated that while he believes XRP could reach $100 within the next 5-10 years, taking profits at $10 is reasonable. For him, locking in gains doesn't contradict his long-term conviction.
X user Majiq Mat pointed out that recent market behavior suggests caution is warranted. He noted frequent price pullbacks over the past six months. He believes phased profit-taking is prudent, as it allows investors to buy back tokens when prices fall again.
X user JRBeast shared a more structured strategy. He stated his plan to sell 10% of his XRP at four different price points while holding over 60% long-term.
This strategy would allow him to achieve more than three times his initial investment return while maintaining a high XRP holding.
Another commentator, Saint Street, echoed this view, believing that holding 80% of XRP long-term while profiting from the remaining 20%, or choosing any suitable proportion based on personal goals, is entirely feasible.
Meanwhile, user naivetyisbliss offered another perspective, questioning whether yield-based services could reduce the need to sell.
He argued that holding 10,000 XRP at $25 with a 3% annualized yield could be quite attractive, adding that higher price levels, such as $50 and above, would also be equally appealing.
